"Where has the time gone?"  is the verse on a banner across the top of this gigantic egg birds nest clock which is covered with a flowing pattern of reds and golds. It is a technique called mokume gane and was created using my own original tools and a clay pattern unique to my work.

Clocks have become my passion project. Thinking beyond time and space each one is a functional piece of art that evokes an emotion or memory of a place and time. Everything is designed around that idea and hopefully points to something in each of us that is creative and fun.

Beginning with wooden or cardboard forms, my clocks are made with disparate pieces and are assembled to be the host for the layers upon layers of colorful polymer clay. Taking many hours of work, each piece of clay is created from single blocks of color, combined, cut, stamped, manipulated and assembled into patterns. Small pieces are individually formed and gilded or strung across the surfaces of the clay to build up a design.

Nothing starts with a fully formed design or pattern but rather takes its own path as it is being built. Did I say that it takes HOURS of work? Yes, but to me it is also hours of fulfillment to carry the work thru the process to arrive at a beautiful and fun piece of art.

Where has the time gone? is supper large egg that this little bluebird can't figure out where it came from! Her nest, which still holds her eggs, is on top of the unusual egg instead of in it's normal place! It sits in a flower pot of gold with  green vines and leaves spilling over the edges providing a very stable base for this egg clock.

Even though the clock is very stable and solid, we do recommend that it be placed away from cluttered work areas.

The clock face is battery run, with a pull tab to start it. The clock can be removed from its home in the house and the time adjusted with the pull pin, then replaced.

Each clock is securely assembled and the clay cured in place to be sturdy for light handling….BUT THESE ARE NOT FOR SMALL CHILDREN! Use care when handling because tiny pieces can be broken off and cannot be replaced.

These are one of a kind pieces of art! As such they are each signed, dated and copyrighted.

Where has the time is approx 7" high and 4" across it's widest part.
