Detailing Makes All the Difference

When I think of detailing I think of cars zooming down the highway with all of their fancy stripes and logos.
Well, I don't make cars or detail them.
But at this stage of creating a clock there is an aspect of detailing that enters into the process. I add lots of little parts that will turn the blank sides into a race car instead of a sedan. Detailing makes the difference.
What my detailing consists of is small parts. LOTS OF SMALL PARTS!
Each one is assembled from different colors of clay formed into patterns as canes and sliced thin. Sometimes it's selected colors rolled into very thin strings or even blobs of clay pressed into a mold and carefully cut and shaped. But that is just the beginning of detailing.
From there it is like a gigsaw puzzle where each piece has to be placed in just the right spot with others to enhance the overall design. Its a dance of color and shapes that come together in a symphony of harmony.
The result is an exciting finish that (I hope) is just right and rather than just SEEING the parts the viewer FEELS the message in the music.
Detailing is one of the instruments in the music of art. Enjoy!
PS: There are 4 other installments in the journey of this clocks creation…..check them out on the blog and keep tuned for more to come. Here's a link to the first one > Click here
