The Beginners Guide to Clay
The hardest thing about beginning any new craft is figuring out where to start. How can you know where when you don't know HOW yet?
The good news is, the more you explore, the more you learn. My students always get this advice:
1. Find something you WANT to make - box, necklace, earrings, even a toad! Be realistic and start small to learn the basics.
2. Look for artists who are making the types of things and in the style you'd like to do, then investigate how they make it. Even better, if they have a tutorial, get it and follow it to make your own version.
3. Then just dive in!!
We learn the most by doing. There is something to learn from everything we encounter. Choose your teachers wisely and be persistent.
