Nesting Time again!

Nesting Time again!

As we watch the little birds gather materials for their nests in what seems like a flurry of urgency, it is calming to know that they have ONE purpose in life right now. Build that nest! Lay those eggs! And raise up babies!

My artistic vision has the knowledge in mind when I select and build the clocks that are focused on nature. Grabbing a little slice of the life that surrounds us which has no care or interest in anything else in the world. They search for the food they eat each moment and then focus on reproducing their life in another.

It's both simple and mind boggling.

Focused on the last steps of building the birdhouse clocks most have a bird present to take ownership of the house. We have a few birdhouses in our small yard so we can watch as the couples inspect and reject or accept the house by the couples as they survey the surroundings. One would think it is the female that 'furnishes' the house. However in the wren world it's the male who selects a few nesting places for the female to approve then begins to outfit them with the right materials for a nest.

Housing seems to take a long time in bird time. (And as we watch it unfold) As I build each clock it also takes a while to settle on the right components and when to place them on the base. It takes a LOT longer than I want sometimes. Yet, the end result does bear a resemblance to the initial design both in my head and sketchbook.

If you are following a long you will see it in the end reveal that is soon to be announced. (Although I've been drawn away from clock building to garden planting in the last could weeks.) It seems that seasons don't just flow into each other, they build up and suddenly jump into high gear and BAM! it's summer.  I'm not ready for it! Are you?
